Designing A Destination In Harmony
Four distinct cornerstones form the foundation for The Placencia, ensuring every detail, from its planning and design through its activities and services, is right for the long-term benefit of the Belizean land and people as well as the community’s owners and guests.
Sustainability Establish a series of conservation initiatives in conjunction with prominent national and international organizations that serve as a model for sustainable development in Belize.
Spirit of Kinship Design the most family-oriented resort environment in the Caribbean through a variety of branded club and community activities and amenities that connect people of all ages, interests and lifestyles.
Belizean Culture Create a new flagship destination for the entire country that defines the Belizean lifestyle in terms of its architecture and design, art and culture, cuisine and style of service, educating residents and guests while instilling pride in locals.
Eco-Experiences Provide the ultimate Belizean base camp via an extensive on- and off-site eco-adventure program that engages people in the country’s rich rainforest-to-reef biodiversity.
In The Company Of Eco-Visionaries
Working in close conjunction with the Belizean government, we’ve carefully assembled a world-class team of global planners, architects, designers, branding consultants and lawyers that brings together the most innovative and successful firms in their respective fields. Together, we share a promise: that every element of The Placencia will come to signify Belizean style on a scale that has never been achieved before.
Placencia Land and Development
Italian builder, developer and visionary Marco Caruso had a serendipitous encounter with Belize on a fishing trip about 11 years ago. It made such an impact on him that he chose to become a Belizean citizen and launch a prominent local business on the Peninsula.
During the last ten years, he has been a key figure in the development, constructions and management of The Placencia Hotel and Residences—where he makes his home. As principal of Placencia Land & Development Ltd., Marco has raised the level of building and design in Belize, earning local credibility and establishing his construction business as the country’s second largest employer.
Over the past three years, Marco’s joint venture partnership with Brent Borland, CEO and founder of Canyon Acquisitions, LLC—a boutique investment firm with offices in Florida —has brought in the financial acumen to provide quality real estate assets and impeccable services to The Placencia development. A disciplined and multi-faceted entrepreneur, Brent has successfully transacted close to $2 billion in global real estate acquisitions in North America, Central America and the Caribbean Basin.

The Placencia Group (TGP) intends to design, develop, execute and operate a fully functional acute care hospital at The Placencia in the country of Belize. TPG envisions a Hospital comprised of a non-profit and for-profit facility approximately 100,000 to 130,000 square feet in size. Located a brief 10 minutes from the Placencia International Airport, the Hospital will feature a fully operational Emergency Room and Primary Care facility that will be the first of it's kind in this region of the country. International and domestic accessibility will be greatly enhanced when the TPG controlled Placencia International Airport opens late 2014.
